AROUND 50 aspiring young gymnasts took part in a key step one gym festival for years one and two pupils.
Pupils from eight schools took part – Fylingdales, St Hedda's, Airy Hill, Stakesby, Egton, West Cliff, East Whitby and Goathland while Caedmon gym club members coached and judged.
Gymnasts performed on floor and vault and demonstrated superb body management, with lots of budding little gymnasts in the making.
The festival had a relaxed atmosphere with Caedmon students focussing on coaching and improving performance.
The students again demonstrated outstanding leadership skills and were a pleasure to watch.
Judges were present at each activity to give gymnasts a focus for performance.
In the team competition, Stakesby performed particularly well under the guidance of Stan Jackson.
They were winners overall and won three of the four disciplines (body management, floor and springboard vault).
East Whitby were close behind, finishing in second place overall with a further first on bench vault and two seconds on body management and springboard vault.
West Cliff finished in third place overall with a further second on floor and a third in body management.
St Hedda's performed well at what was their first competition and managed a first on bench vault and a third on the floor.
Individually, Ellie Clarkson (Stakesby) finished first overall, Tommy Didelot (Stakesby) second and Masie Shaw (Stakesby) third.
Also performing well were Jacob Rigden (East Whitby), Samuel Pell (Airy Hill), Suzie Jones (West Cliff), Gabby Anderson (Stakesby), Nathan Shaw (Stakesby), Stephen Hartas (St Hedda's), Jenna Vasey (Fylingdales), Emma Cornforth (Egton) and Emily Thompson (Goathland).
