AROUND 100 budding young gymnastics participated in a key step one gymnastics festival for year one and two pupils run by the School Sports Partnership.
The event was held over two afternoons recently at Eskdale School.
Pupils from 11 local primary schools took part – Castleton, St Hedda's, Egton, Fylingdales, Oakridge, East Whitby, Stakesby, Airy Hill, Sleights, Lythe and West Cliff while gym club members from Eskdale School coached and judged.
Gymnasts developed skills and performed for the judges in three disciplines – floor, body management and vault, giving their all every time.
Judges were present at each activity to give gymnasts a focus for their performance. The festival had a relaxed atmosphere, with the gymnasts being encouraged to have a go while the Eskdale students helped coach the gymnasts to improve their performance.
The students demonstrated excellent leadership skills and were a credit to the school.
Thanks to all school staff, parents and children who supported the event and helped to make both afternoons a great success, a great time was had by all.
