THE inquest into the pilot who died when his plane crashed into the sea at Robin Hood's Bay last Friday was opened on Wednesday.
The coroner at Scarborough County Court adjourned the inquest of 45-year-old John Richard Ingham, an aviation charter broker from the Ripon area.

Mr Ingham’s plane crashed into the sea just after 4pm on Friday though his body was not recovered until the following day.

Air Accident Investigators have taken away the wreckage of the two-seater Piper 38, popularly known as a Tomahawk, for analysis.

In a statement, Mr Ingham’s family said: “With the shock of losing such a wonderful husband and father the family is clearly devastated by the news.”

Mr Ingham was a father of three and lived with his wife Elizabeth, who identified his body, near Ripon.

A spokeswoman for the Air Accident Investigation Branch said the investigation was ongoing and would not speculate when the findings would be released.
