YOUNGSTERS from Fyling Hall Junior School are hoping to raise more than £150 for the RNLI SOS fund-raising appeal after a sponsored swim at Whitby Leisure Centre.
A total of 39 pupils, all aged between four and 11 years old, took part in the event.

Senior teacher Pauline Birchall said: “The swim was held in their weekly swimming session at the Whitby Leisure Centre with the younger pupils swimming widths and the older pupils doing lengths.

“More than £150 has already been pledged with more pupils still to hand in their sponsor money.

“Key Stage Two pupils at the school have enjoyed learning about the work of the RNLI within their topic themes on seas, coasts, water and rivers.”

She added once all the money had been collected, a representative from Whitby RNLI would visit the school during the assembly to receive the donation.
