ONE of the first agricultural shows of the season takes place on Saturday.
The Sneaton and Hawsker Show will be held at Sneaton Castle farm in Whitby it promises to be a fun-filled, action packed day.
A variety of attractions will include demonstrations from the Pesky Huskys, Whitby fire crew, the Staintondale hounds, Wh
itby Jets and a mobile saw unit which will turn trees into posts and rails.
There will also be a falconry display, alpacas and the Simply Brass band.
Secretary Karen Souter told the Whitby Gazette: “We are hoping for good weather unlike last year which was unfortunately a washout and forced us to cancel the day’s events.
“We also hope for a good turnout.
“There’s plenty to see and do and I hope everyone will come along and have a really good time.”
A traditional agricultural show, it will include horses, cattle and sheep.
The Pesky Huskys will be in the main ring all day and depending on the weather, will put on a display where they will pull a sledge.
There will be a variety of stands and stalls including craft stalls, plants, sweets.
There will be vintage machinery to look at including tractors, engines and a threshing machine.
For the children there will be fairground rides including a bucking bronco and bungee trampolines.
In addition there will a clown, face painting and donkey rides for youngsters. Dog and ferret owners are encouraged to bring their pets down on the day to compete in classes including the dog with the waggiest tail.
There will be gardening and horticulture classes and showjumping will take place in the arena all afternoon and through into the evening.
Over £3,000 in prize monies will be available on the day.
Heavy horses and shire horses will also be on display.
Admission is £4 for adults, £3 for children and OAPS or £10 for a family ticket and there is free car parking.
Show membership is also available at £10 which gives free entry into the show and VIP seating and parking.
