A ROBIN Hood's Bay hotel is seeking to extend its opening hours and to offer a wider range of live entertainment.
The Victoria Hotel in Station Road wants to extend its hours for the sale of alcohol until 2am from Monday to Sunday.
It is currently licensed until midnight.
The owners of the hotel are also requesting Scarborough Council’s licensing sub-commi
ttee agrees to include the garden at the premises in the licensed area.
They also want to be able to stage films, plays and have live music and dance both in and outdoors.
No authorities responsible have submitted an objection but one resident has objected to the proposed extensions.
The report to the committee states: “The interested party is concerned about the potential for excessive noise and also light/noise pollution, particularly late at night and in the early hours as a result of any extension to the hours of licensable activities.
“They are also concerned about increased noise and nuisance should the applicants be permitted to extend their licensable activities outside into the garden area.
“Their concerns also relate to the applicants request to increase the number/range of activities beyond the current restriction of recorded music (indoors) only, to include live music and dancing amongst others.”
A decision will be made at the licensing sub-committee’s meeting at Whitby’s Sneaton Castle Centre on Tuesday.
