FYLINGDALES Cricket Club is celebrating after being awarded a £500 grant towards the cost of a practice strip and the installation and replacement of netting.
The grant has been awarded by The Foundation For Sport and the Arts which was established by members of the Pools Promoters Association in 1991.

Under the deed of the trust the funds are used for the benefit of sport and the arts.

Patrick Holdsworth, the club’s treasurer said the £500 grant was added to cash they have raised including holding a safari supper.

They were able to purchase the strip online at a cost of £850, making a considerable saving.

Fylingdales Cricket Club has two Saturday teams – one of which plays in the Beckett League and one in the Derwent Valley League – and a juniors team too. He said the new equipment will make a big difference, particularly when they are coaching the younger places.

It will be installed next season.
