RESIDENTS at a Hawsker care home are enjoying the summer sun thanks to a £100 donation from Whitby solicitors Yorkshire Law.
Hawksgarth Lodge now boasts a fabulous colourful garden thanks to the business which has enabled staff to purchase five new planters.

After receiving a grant enabling the care home’s garden to benefit from a makeover, shrubbery and gravel filled the space to create a sheltered seating area.

The shrubs however, are not yet matured enough to produce fruit and flowers and so staff felt that the garden could be improved further by an array of colour.

Jane Hall, of Hawksgarth Lodge said: “We received this grant, and we thought we’ve already got sensory equipment and we’ve raised money for a minibus, let’s have something for the garden.”

“After further consideration, the five planters were chosen.

“We wanted something to brighten the garden because the shrubs are not flowering due to being disturbed when we moved them here.

“The planters are made from recycled wood, and are produced by Dalewood House which we thought was perfect for our garden.”

Jane said the planters now sit in the middle of the garden and are an instant attraction for wildlife and residents alike.

“Already, the residents have been walking around in the garden.

“Some take books out there to read, and even though we can’t always get outside, the view into the garden is lovely and we often just look out of the window and admire the planters,” she said.
