AN OVERCAST sky provided perfect weather for Fyling Hall Senior School sports day – although an expectant audience of family and friends hoped instead the sun would shine.
Around 140 pupils, dressed in red or blue, ran, jumped and threw in numerous events.
Sports master Steven Allen said although no records were officially broken, some of the results were extremely close and encouraging for the future.
The blues team was triumphant again but Mr Allen warned they had better watch out next year – the reds produced some fine performances in the junior ranks.
The blue team, as is to be expected, vowed to maintain their winning run.
The school’s new headteacher Ken James said: “All the pupils participated fully in the much-awaited day and entered into the spirit of the event.
“A number were even seen to be sporting patriotic hairstyles and body art.
“And the juniors get to shine soon too – their sports day is planned for 25 June.”
Mr James presented the trophy to the captains of the blue team.
