CHANGES to parking restrictions in Robin Hood's Bay could move a step closer this week.
The Yorkshire Coast and Area Committee will discuss the changes to current legislation on Thursday after public consultation showed the majority of people were in favour of the plans.

The changes include imposing a no waiting at any time restricti
on in Station Road and Thorpe Lane (north and south).

Waiting at any time would be banned on Mount Pleasant north and south, with the south side also getting a disabled parking bay.

The plans were put forward following consultation between Highways and Fylingdales Parish Council and were then put out to the public.91 people replied to the consultation with between 91% and 73% of responses being in favour of the schemes in each road.

Some responders were concerned that the restrictions would cause problems elsewhere in the village.

However, Richard Flinton, North Yorkshire County Council's corporate director of business and environmental services wrote in his report to the area committee:

“In response to the comments that these restrictions would ‘only move the problems elsewhere’, it should be noted that this will always be the result whenever parking restrictions are introduced.

“However, in this case there is no significant increase in the extent of the restrictions, only to the time of operation.”

Councillors will decide on whether to further consult of some of the changes or to pass them as they are.
