Unimpressed with nightclub

If the police are unimpressed with the Whitby Pavilion (Whitby's best venue) applying for an extension to its licence how can they justify granting extensions to RAW just a few months after it opened?
The Cumulative Impact Policy (CIP) was totally ignored then, so how can it be applied now?

Special event notices are just that special.

Since when has every Saturday night been special?

As a tourist town we have lots of special weekends but there seems to be different rules here.

I support the Pavilion, which over the years has provided some world class entertainment and will continue to be an asset to our town.

As for another nightclub in the centre of town I don’t support, it’s not needed.

Scarborough Council and the chairman of North Yorkshire Police have set a precedent which basically means rules can be broken if it suits them.

Scarborough Council now has that power but they do ask for comments from the police. Editor
