Amazed at our ridiculous lights

Has anyone else wondered what on earth Scarborough Borough Council is doing putting up Christmas lights around town already?
It really doesn’t matter if they don’t intend to switch them on until much nearer Christmas (and I hope it is much nearer), it’s the way they are suspended above our streets and attached to our lampposts already that is so ridiculous.
