THE May meeting was opened by Beryl Thompson and the minutes were read by Chris Hebron.
The group rally will be held on 15 September and Spantons has kindly agreed to do an autumn fashion show. Future events for members included the bisit to Tissington well dressing on 26 May and theatre trips to see Annie at the YMCA Theatre on 29 May
and to the Coliseum to see Land Girls on 25 June.
Members were invited to an open gardens day at Robin Hood's Bay and Fylingthorpe by the Whitby and Ryedale Alzheimers' Society on Sunday 7 June, tickets £5, available from the post office.
Hazel Dixon gave the quarterly financial report and said that thanks to particularly profitable dominoes drives and monies raised from raffles the group remained in a healthy financial position.
The voting by members for this year's resolution that the government increases funding into bee health was carried and Chris Hebron will be the delegate at the AGM in London.
Birthday flowers were presented to Rose Duck. Winners of the competition for a decorated egg were 1 Ann Edley and 2 Gillian Hodgson.
Mrs R Hutchinson brought a large selection of decorated eggs varying in size and gave a talk on the varied forms of decoration used to achieve the beautiful display she had created. After answering many questions she was thanked by Chris Hebron.
The next meeting will be on Tuesday 9 June and Mr A Nicholson will give a talk, And More Secrets of the attic, the competition will be an old comic postcard.
Visitors are welcome at a cost of £3 and anyone wishing to join Hawsker WI from the Whitby area can contact Chris Hebron on 605973.
