THE president opened the March meeting and minutes were read by Chris Hebron.
Forthcoming events included an invitation to Fryup WI on 13 May for an evening with The Bra Lady. Theatre visits to the King and I on 7 May and a Bedroom Comedy by the amateur dramatic group on 11 April.
Members were reminded of the group dominoes d
rive at the Robinson Institute, Glaisdale on Thursday 23 April, the bunny bonanza at Hawsker Village Hall on Tuesday 7 April and a dabbe day on Saturday 13 June. The group is invited to visit a power station on Wednesday 19 August.
There was a good display of spring bulbs for the annual bulb show. Winners: WI bulb, 1 M Smith, 2 C Hood, 3 H Dixon; single hyacinth, 1 H Dixon, 2 O Smith; bowl of daffodils, 1 E Tindal, 2 H Dixon; three hyacinths, 1 H Dixon, 2 E Tindal, 3 G Hodgson; own choice, 1 E Tindal, 2 G Hodgson, 3 H Dixon.
Birthday flowers were presented to Joyce Waring, Margaret Noble and Mary Cummins.
Ann Gullon gave a demonstration of eight different arrangements of spring flowers. Beryl Thompson thanked her for an entertaining evening and the displays were raffled among the members.
The next meeting is on 14 April and Mrs S Brodie will be explaining Tai Chi and the competition is for an exampple of origami work.
Anyone wishing to attend this meeting is welcome at a charge of £3 to include supper. Anyone wishing to become a member can contact Mrs C Hebron on 605973.
