THE January meeting was opened by the president who wished all members a happy New Year.
Minutes of the last meeting were ready by Chris Hebron.
Sadly the trip to Saltholme Nature Reserve was over subscribed.
Future events include a threads day at South Milford on Saturday 12 April and the annual council meeting at Scarborough on Wednesday 28 April when the speaker will be Sheila Dibnah on Life with Steeplejack Fred.
There is a proposed trip to Bradford to visit Sikh and Hindu temples and Bradford Cathedral.
Due to the inclement weather the speaker was unable to give his talk so members enjoyed 12 hands of dominoes after supper. Birthday flowers were given to Hazel Dixon, Margaret Smith and Wilna Hodgson.
Winners of the competition for a piece of Christmas cake were first Chris Hebron and second Hazel Dixon.
The next meeting will be on Tuesday 9 February when Lol Hodgson will give a talk on Fylingdales Court Leat and the competition is for a local photograph. Guests are welcome at a cost of £3.
Anyone from the Whitby area wishing to become a member should contact Chris Hebron on 605973.
