THE December meeting was opened by the president and Chris Hebron read the minutes of the last meeting.
The annual dinner will be held at the Hare and Hounds on Wednesday 13 January with dominoes to follow the meal.
Volunteers were required for birthday flowers.
Arrangements were made for the carol service at York.
Future events include a musical soiree at Bedern Hall, York, the visit to Saltholme Reserve and a functional food day at the Railway Museum at York.
Birthday flowers were presented to Carol Hood, Olive Tordoff and Ann Edley.
The winner of the competition, a Christmas cracker, was Gillian Hodgson and Chris Hebron was second.
The men of Staithes Choir entertained members and guests with a selection of songs and hymns with a nautical theme, then joined with the audience in carol singing. This was followed by a very large supper and raffle.
Beryl Thompson thanked the choir from bringing the group closer to Christmas.
The next meeting will be on Tuesday 12 January with Barry Hodgkinson as speaker, the competition is a slice of Christmas cake.
